Hey, I am a scenery developer, and have developed this inf file for the scenery off usgs:
[Source] Type = GeoTIFF Layer = Imagery SourceDir = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Terrain SDK" SourceFile = "41320088.tiff" Variation = All NullValue = 255,255,255 [Destination] DestDir = "C:\Users\*****\Desktop\FSX\EXPORT" DestBaseFileName = "WX_IMG1" DestFileType = BGL LOD = Auto
when i drop it into my resample.exe, it just doesnt work, it open and closes in a flash. I looked at the map properties in a program, and it is a WGN84 datum map.
please help!
Thx
Andrew

1) Check your image file is in fact located in the source directory you indicated.
2) A GeoTIFF file extension would be .TIF not .TIFF, change that.
3) Make sure it is WGS84 in Arc Degrees.

I thought it was already in WGS84 format?
Try a program such as Global Mapper.

I downloaded the high resolution orthoimagery, and I dont know what projection that is. Global Mapper is $300. Anything cheaper?
Thanks

NAD83 most likely. You can download Global Mapper for free then request a temporary registration key to do datum conversions.

Thanks so much,
can you please show me what the exact .inf file should look like before I put it in the resample.
Thanks

Try this, replacing all of the x's with information specific to your files.
[Source] Type = GeoTIFF SourceDir = xxx SourceFile = "xxx" Layer = Imagery Variation = Day NullValue = 255,255,255
[Destination] DestDir = xxx DestBaseFileName = "xxx" DestFileType = BGL LOD = Auto

Thanks
I think I finally got it.
But its a big file- Like 2 gigs for 1/4 of the total scenery.
WOW

Try adding the following line to the [Destination] section:
CompressionQuality = 80

I wouldn't mess with the LOD settings unless you know what you're doing.
Let me know how it turns out, post a screenshot if you like

Hey,
Where excactly do you get your images. Ive been searching all day for some smaller ones, but cant find them.
Thanks, you have been very helpfull. My scenery will be payware, but for this community, (Real Scenes) it will be free, to show my appreciation.
Thanks, Andrew

I get mine from USGS, but if you have 1 foot imagery that's better than what you will find there.
What's the name of your payware company, or the one you work for? Real Scenes used to be payware - now it's a one-man show in the freeware community.
